Norma Byron is the President and founder of The Ashlawn Group, LLC. Norma provides strong leadership to Ashlawn through her 20+ years of experience in marketing and business development in the defense sector.  Formerly with Primex Technologies (a spin-off of Olin Corporation), Norma successfully led key marketing efforts for tank ammunition in both the domestic and international sectors.  While President of Women In Defense, A National Security Organization, for two consecutive terms (2001-2003), Norma oversaw membership growth of 100% and the formation of four new chapters.  Norma currently serves on the Executive Steering Committee of the Small Business Division of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) and NDIA's Washington Chapter Board of Directors.  She is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).  Norma holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Marymount University, Arlington, VA.

Ed Seydel has over 15 years engineering and management success in both government and commercial arenas focusing on project management in matrix and traditionally managed organizations, including start-up ventures. Seydel has extensive background in new systems and device development. Expertise includes: project management, management of prototype and pilot-scale products, innovative engineering solutions, testing and production processes and instruments, and design leadership in new test systems. Ed is the testing manager for Ashlawn’s P-100 program. Seydel’s experience includes working with Lockheed Martin as a Senior Materials Engineer and Senior Scientist. He is experienced in government contracting and program management issues. He received a Bachelor of Science and Engineering at Cornell University and a Master of Science in Materials Engineering at the University of Maryland.

Maurice Daniel provides technical services on a contract basis with Ashlawn. He provides technical writing capabilities to Ashlawn in bid and proposal efforts, and descriptions of technical issues. He is an inventor with experience spanning over 40 years, including the obtaining of 13 issued patents (several currently under license), the initiation of three startup companies based on his patents (one currently successful at $10 million per year in revenues), and he holds degrees in Physics from Case Western Reserve University and an Executive MBA in Business from George Washington University. His work includes approximately 1300 documented inventions ranging from new consumer and industrial products.

Al Bernstein (703) 461-3600
Computational Scientist albernstein@ashlawngroup.com

Alfred Bernstein provides technical services to Ashlawn on a contract basis with Ashlawn through his company, Signal Science. Al provides high-level engineering services to address computationally intensive problems for the U.S. government, commercial enterprises, and financial institutions. Al has modeled critical functional parameters for Ashlawn’s fuel cells, to include hydrogen embrittlement, predict performance of the inertial activation device, and predict fuel cell performance under G-load and spin rates associated with gunfire. Al Bernstein has a BA in philosophy, minor in music, BSEE and MSEE degree from the University of Miami, Miami, Fl. His engineering emphasis was in Thin Film Deposition, Signal Processing and Microwave Electronics. He has 20 years of experience in the engineering industry.

Government Relations asullivan@ashlawngroup.com

Ann Sullivan provides government relations services to Ashlawn on a contract basis through her firm, Madison Services Group, Inc. She brings many years of government relations experience in the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, serving in key advisory roles. Ms. Sullivan works with the U.S. Congress as well as the U.S. government agencies to bring her clients’ issues national attention. Her expertise includes government procurement, health care and tax issues affecting women and minority businesses. She currently represents the largest national association of women business owners and women in business.
